"fixer upper" . Yscloskey Bayou, LA 2012 : A small, shrimp trawler that Charles Robins III planned to “fix up” before Hurricane Isaac gave it an additional beating. It was originally owned by another commercial shrimper that couldn’t afford the upkeep any longer. “You gotta take care of your boat,” Charles told me. “This is the Mother that feeds our families. If you lose your Mother, what else is there to live for?” Charles is still working on it.

Memorial. Shell Beach, LA 2012 : Hurricane Katrina Memorial at the point of Shell Beach. This waterway used to be a road that went all the way to Fort Proctor before the Mississippi River Gulf Outlet, or the “Mister Go” was built and dredged through in the 1950’s.

Old Highway 51. Manchac, LA 2013 : During the construction of I-55, the "old" HWY 51 was dredged into a canal running to Lake Maurepas. Although the interstate was needed for increased traffic through Manchac, it was also the end of many small businesses that ran along the highway, and opened another gateway to Louisiana's "sinking the land."
